Creative Writing
From poetry and short stories to creative non-fiction, we showcase a plethora of creative writing here. Want to you see your writing on the CLC?
Poetry
Poetry has always been at the center of Black expression; it has documented our grief, our resistance, our joy, and everything in between. This space is dedicated to the poets in our community, from those writing their first stanzas to those who have been finding words for decades. Browse original works submitted by CLC members, and if you have something ready to share, we want to read it. Submit your poetry and let it find the audience it deserves.
Fiction
Some of the most powerful things ever said have been said through a story that never happened. Fiction is where imagination becomes truth; where Black writers build new worlds, reimagine existing ones, and tell the kinds of stories that mainstream publishing has too often overlooked. Browse original works from CLC members writing across every genre: speculative, literary, horror, romance, and beyond. If you have a story living in your head that needs to get out, this is where it belongs. Submit your work and add your voice to this growing collection.
